This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled three officially licensed, limited-edition bobbleheads featuring the mascots of the Fresno State Bulldogs.

The bobbleheads feature the school’s current live bulldog mascot, Victor E. Bulldog IV, the school’s recently retired live bulldog mascot Victor E. Bulldog III, and a dual bobblehead featuring the school’s costumed mascot Timeout with Victor E. Bulldog III

These mark the first bobbleheads for both Victor E. Bulldog III and IV. The special edition bobbleheads were produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Fresno State University.

Sitting on a base bearing their names and in the shape of Fresno State’s logo, the Victor E. Bulldog IV and Victor E. Bulldog III bobbleheads are both wearing tags with the letter V, representing the San Joaquin Valley. Victor E Bulldog III has his tongue out in playful fashion, while Victor E. Bulldog IV is showing a submissive grin. Positioned on a swivel base shaped like the Fresno State logo, the third bobblehead features a sitting Victor E. Bulldog III looking up playfully at Timeout. In addition to the school and the names of the mascots, the base also reads “BEST FRIENDS.”

The bobbleheads, which are individually numbered to 2,023, are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads of Victor E. Bulldog III ($30) and Victor E. Bulldog III with Timeout ($45) just arrived and ship now with a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. The first-ever bobblehead of Victor E. Bulldog IV ($30) is available for pre-order with delivery in December.

Victor E. Bulldog IV will make his season debut at Valley Children’s Stadium on Saturday, September 9th, when the Fresno State football team hosts Eastern Washington in the 2023 home opener. Victor E. Bulldog IV, who celebrated his first birthday on June 22nd, made his Fresno State debut on November 29th, 2022. He worked together with his predecessor and a mascot-in-training before a “Passing of the Collar Ceremony” on April 16th.

Victor E. Bulldog IV loves meeting new people, plushie toys and Fresno State corn. He has been known to frequent the campus Starbucks for a pup cup and gets his steps in at the track at Fresno State’s Rec Center. Arriving on campus in June 2015, Victor E. Bulldog III embarked on his farewell tour in the spring in celebration of his nearly eight-year run as Fresno State’s live mascot. Victor E., who celebrated his eighth birthday on March 14th, made thousands of appearances embodying the “Bulldog Spirit.” He continues to live with his caretaker and is enjoying his retirement.

In 1921, student body president Warren Moody and friends were continually greeted outside the main campus building by a white bulldog and the group decided to make him the college’s mascot. In a student body meeting, a motion was made to adopt “Bulldogs” as the official nickname. On November 21st, 1921, the Morning Republican (now Fresno Bee) first referred to Fresno State as the “Bulldogs.” In 1981, the Bulldog mascot character seen today was created and given the name Timeout.

Gary Johns served as the first costumed mascot that year. He said the name was taken from the Timeout Boosters Club. "We’re excited to create these bobbleheads of the busiest and most popular bulldogs around,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “We know how much the Fresno community loves their Bulldogs, and we think alumni, students, faculty, staff, and fans are going to love these new bobbleheads!”
